Overview

Images arrive at whatever size the camera felt like, and destinations are picky: a marketplace wants 800×800, a banner wants 1920×480, a profile photo wants a neat square. Resizing by hand in desktop software works but is slow for one-offs — and uploading personal photos to a random converter site is a privacy trade nobody should have to make.

This page resizes entirely in your browser. The true dimensions appear the moment your image loads, so you work from facts; type any width and height down to the pixel, lock the aspect ratio so nothing stretches, or jump to a one-click preset. Choose PNG for graphics or JPEG for photos, preview the result, and download — the source file is never modified.

What actually happens when you resize?

Resizing rebuilds the image at a new pixel grid. Shrinking is straightforward — the software averages neighbouring pixels down. Enlarging invents pixels by interpolation, guessing what should sit between the real ones, which is why upsized images look soft: no detail is created, only smoothed. The golden rule is to start from the largest source you have and only ever shrink.

The aspect-ratio lock exists because unlinked resizing stretches. A 4:3 photo forced into a square becomes a funhouse mirror unless it is cropped or padded instead. Lock the ratio, change one side, and let the other follow — distortion-free by construction.

Features

Benefits

Who can use it

Sellers preparing marketplace images, social media managers hitting platform dimensions, bloggers standardising featured images, and anyone whose “upload” button rejected a photo for being the wrong size. Designers mocking up quick variants will also find the presets handy.

How to use

  1. Drop an image onto the panel or click to browse.
  2. Read the true dimensions shown once it loads.
  3. Type the target width and height, or pick a preset.
  4. Keep the aspect-ratio lock on unless you want distortion.
  5. Choose PNG or JPEG, preview, and download.

Frequently asked questions

Should I lock the aspect ratio?

Almost always yes. Unlocking lets width and height change independently, which stretches the image — faces widen, circles become ovals. The only time to unlock deliberately is when you are intentionally distorting or when you plan to crop the result back to shape afterwards.

Can I make an image bigger without losing quality?

Not really. Enlarging invents pixels by interpolation, so the result is always softer than a true high-resolution original. Modest upscales (up to ~1.5x) are usually acceptable; beyond that, expect visible softness. Always work from the largest source file you have.

PNG or JPEG for the resized image?

JPEG for photographs — far smaller files with no visible difference. PNG for graphics with sharp edges, text, logos or transparency, where JPEG's compression artefacts would show. The tool lets you choose per image rather than imposing one default.

What are the presets for?

Common destination sizes — social profile squares, banner ratios, thumbnail dimensions — so you can hit a standard size in one click instead of looking it up and typing it. They set both fields at once; you can still fine-tune afterwards.

Does resizing change the file size too?

Usually, yes — fewer pixels means less data, so a resized-down image is typically much smaller in bytes as well. If you need precise control over file size rather than dimensions, pair this with the image compressor: resize first, then compress.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is decoded, resampled and re-encoded entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and the original file on your device is never altered.

Conclusion

Right size, right ratio, right format — in seconds and in private. Drop the image, set the pixels, download, done.
