—title chars
—description chars

Overview

Half of a web page is invisible: the tags in the that tell search engines and social networks what the page is about. Without them, shared links render as grey boxes and search snippets say whatever the crawler guessed. This generator builds the full set from a single form — title, description, URL, image — and hands you a paste-ready snippet.

As you type, counters track title and description length against what search engines actually display, and warnings flag the common omissions: missing canonical URL, missing social image, overlong text.

What do these tags actually control?

Three audiences, three tag families. The title tag and meta description feed the search snippet — the blue link and grey text on Google. Open Graph tags (og:title, og:image and company) drive the rich preview cards on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord and WhatsApp. Twitter cards do the same job specifically for X.

They are suggestions, not commands: Google rewrites around half of all titles when it thinks it can do better. But complete, accurate tags give every platform the best raw material to work with — which beats leaving the snippet to chance.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need the meta keywords tag?

No. Google has ignored it for well over a decade, and it was abused into irrelevance long before that. The generator omits it deliberately. Spend the effort on a good title, an honest description and correct social tags instead.

Why does Google show a different title than mine?

Google treats titles as suggestions and rewrites a large share of them — usually when the tag is missing, duplicated across many pages, or stuffed with keywords. A unique, accurate title under about 60 characters survives rewriting far more often.

I fixed my tags but the preview is still wrong. Why?

Caching. Social networks fetch your preview once and reuse it; fixing tags does not refresh their stored copy. Use each platform's debugger — Facebook's Sharing Debugger, X's Card Validator — to force a re-scrape after changes.

What size should the social image be?

1200×630 pixels is the universal safe choice, rendering well on Facebook, LinkedIn and X's large cards. Keep it under about a megabyte, use JPG or PNG, and make any text legible at thumbnail size.

Can I use this for every page on my site?

The pattern, yes — the values, no. Every page deserves its own unique title and description; duplicated tags across pages are one of the things search engines penalise. Generate per page, or better, templatise the generator's output in your CMS.

Conclusion

Invisible tags, visible results. Fill the form, respect the counters, test the preview — and let every shared link arrive looking like it was meant to.
